Maple Durham House... the pre amble...
Dream Team Schedule
At the last minute Dream team have moved one of our teams from Sunday to Saturday causing us a real headache !
In summary:
Saturday = 4 small divisions, should be done in good time.
Sunday = 3 large and 1 small division, will take a while to race all these legs, but as we are not in the last division the chance to sneak off before the end is an option.
Saturday = Rooky Rascals, Division 7, seeded 1st out of 5 teams with a time of 22.25. (starts about 10am and again 1pm (assuming no lunch)... small divisions so there probably will be a break).
Sunday = Our Team are ring party for Division 1 at 8:30am
Rooky Racers, Division 2, seeded 3rd out of 6 with a time of 18.96. (starts about 9:15am and again 12:15... however this assumes no lunch, these are big divisions so the afternoon might start later)
Rooky Raiders, Division 3, seeded last out of 6 with a time of 20.22. (starts about 10am and again 1pm, but the divisions are big and these times might slip).
Dogs orders still being worked on, but with the Rascals moving to Saturday it means some dogs will not be able to race on Sunday... as soon as we know you will know !.
If the weather is nice and you are not racing come along with your dogs, join us for a sit down and chat, watch the flyball, watch the agility, try the rocket run, shop at Snugglepets... and let your dog swim in the Thames :-)

Competitions 2013, just a reminder…
The competitions on the Rooky Racers calendar page are the main ones we will enter this year… the criteria are - they are all fairly local, will have either Chris or I there to help out / do paper work, and are evenly spread out date wise … we don't want dogs and owners getting “flyball burn out” !
However we can compete anywhere in the UK (and Europe if you want !) if there is a competition you want to go to let me know and I can ask the rest of the team, all competitions can be found here on the BFA website:
http://www.flyball.org.uk/official/diary.php
And if Chris and I cannot make it you are welcome to take a box and balls and race on your own.
Fringe competitions that I will email about this year:
July 6th - Barbury Castle. Marlborough, Wiltshire SN8 1RS – reason for venue?… this is in conjunction with Barbury International horse trials http://www.barburyhorsetrials.co.uk/ as a Flyball competitor you get free entrance to see the horse trials and go round the show. I will be at this show as my wife and daughter are big horse fans.
July 20th - Imber Court, East Molesey, Surrey KT8 0BT – reason for venue?… this is a “classic” venue, has been running for years, and only 45 minutes away. Not been for a while as there are now more local competitions. Good chance to meet and race the London teams. This is where the Rooky Racers entered their first starters team :)
July 27th to 31st - Tai Lawr, Brygwran, Anglesey LL65 3SW – reason for venue?… this is aimed at the team members who like to combine holiday and Flyball !. Anglesey is a lovely area with lots of beaches… but North Wales is a real trek, and the venue is tiny and packed !…. a real experience, you should try and go at least once!.
July 27th - Shalford Park, Guildford, Surrey GU4 8BL – reason for venue?… 50 minute drive away, so just within our 1 hour journey boundary.
August 24th - Upton Court Park, Slough, Berkshire SL3 7LU – reason for venue?… 25 minutes away (Nick, you can bring some frozen yogurt!!)
September 7th - Hedsor Golf Course, Wooburn Common, Buckinghamshire HP10 0JW – reason for venue?… 25 minute drive away, new venue for 2013.
September 14th - RSPCA Southridge, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire EN6 3LZ – reason for venue?… 50 minute drive away, so just within our 1 hour journey boundary, good chance to race new teams North and North East of London.
October 12th - Apps Court Farm, Walton on Thames, Surrey KT12 2EG – reason for venue?… only 30 minutes away, it is one I have heard of but never been too…. I will probably go to this one to see what it is like.
Make the most of it, I have a horrible feeling the competitions will dry up again in 2014 with the introduction of new rules limiting who and where competitions can be hosted… however I do know there could be one in Cornwall 2014… sounds like a good excuse for a holiday !.

Acremead movers and shakers
Lacey gets Flyball Dog Graduate
Mist gets Flyball Dog Intermediate (after scoring more points than Milly lol ;-) )
Ruby (Young) gets Flyball Dog Intermediate
Great going girls !
These points are so hot we are still waiting for the Rebounds points to be added !.
Will update later !.
Andy
Update 1 - The Rebounds points might be a while due to a problem on the paper work, but don't worry, it is all known about by the BFA and wont impact points earned by those dogs in that team.
Update 2 - And the Rebound points are up, some good points scored by Jace !, and for Toby this was his best ever comp for points.
Jace and Radley = 125 points
Jovi = 110 points (run by Jan)
Toby = 75
As for Chewy.... *sigh* there is no light at the end of her tunnel ! = 65 points

DOGS IN
Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel
Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and
don’ts travelling to and whilst at Kennel Club licensed events.
• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether
the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to
avoid increased time in traffic jams.
• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether
travelling to the show is a good idea at all.
• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of
stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink.
• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of
free flowing air around the dog.
• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.
• Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade, for example a
large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so
your dog stays well hydrated.
• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing
in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time.
Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and
dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your
dog’s welfare.
Warning: if your dog is found to be at risk, forcible entry
to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any
damage caused.
Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should
take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and
should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default,
omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect
may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under
Kennel Club Regulations.
Right to refuse entries. Exhibitors/competitors are reminded that
show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulations to refuse
any entry.

Rooky Racers, 4 years old :-)
It the beginning (before Rooky Racers) there was the Diana Brimblecombe Flyball Team run by the lovely Sarah North.... "back in those days" you had to travel miles to find a team to train with. This is where Chris and I started Flyball.
We wore team colours that were a fetching shade of grey ! (spot Chris, and yes, even in those days he was on his phone lol!).
