New Flyball training chute…

For dogs who are not confident getting a ball from the box we now have a training chute.

A real work of art and quality workmanship by Nigel Brown, who runs Alfie… cheers Nigel !… and even the position of the ball holders can be moved!

The idea is once dogs get the hang of walking on the chute we can increase the incline before moving onto the real flyball box.

Totally stunning if you ask me, easily as good as the chute used by the Dons and Bandits … and very sorry Active 8 … it is much better than yours :-)

Being tested by Lillian and Merlin… and yes, even Lola went on it !

Acremead April 21st/22nd

Chris needs to work out dogs and teams as certain people cannot make certain days… but while you wait to find out which team you are in check the show schedule.  (CLICK HERE)

Looks like a big weekend with lots of teams competing …. keep an eye out for our red Rooky Racers flag… we normally park on the back fence opposite where you enter the field (and to the left).

If you have never been to Acremead before and get lost call me on 0775 71 71 8 71… basically head to Acremead kennels … off the A34, down High Street …. about 50 meters past the kennels (on your left) is a very rutty drive / road … follow that until you find the gate into the field (you can enlarge the below picture; where the circle is is where you turn left… not the 5 bar gate before… opposite the entrance is a white colour house called Brook Farm)

If I was team Captain I would say turn up at least half an hour before you are due to race… but Chris will probably want you there earlier !.

For the starters… bring chairs and drinks… there is a food van on site, they sell ice lollies if the weather is warm.  Portaloos are on site and sometimes there is pet stall / CSJ stall.

Any questions just email Chris or me.

See you then !

Frogmore Challenge Update (!!)

Well… I guessed 2 out of 3 correctly …. problem is I now need to buy a 4 pack of beers for the Rooky Racers

 Smile

Final Results:

Rooky Racers into the Rosettes with a well earned 4th place, Benji’s owner Jordan tried his hardest to keep the Racers out of the Rosettes by fouling the timing sensors with his tuggy twirling !… (Reminder… if you get near the start gate don’t do anything to set the sensors off !).

Rooky Raiders get 1st with some great racing, Harry behaved and earned some more Flyball points…. (Reminder…. do not carry your dog in the ring and make sure they have all 4 paws on the floor before you release them to get the ball… minor rules but we have to abide by them (and rules I forget to tell people because at 35Kg I don't carry Muttley and he also does not stand on his back legs !).

Rooky Rebounds get 6th, but of all the teams did better than I thought !… Maya got some almost perfect starts towards the end of the day, Toby and Muttley went up and back without a repeat of last weeks training session disasters.  Chewy was run by Ozzy’s owner Richard and behaved better for him then for me ! and Suzie risked running Mist, who, despite a few timid moments did run a few legs and earned some points too.

And for once the competition finished on time and we left pretty early !.

Not a bad day all in all…. all the dogs get mixed up again for Acremead next week due to availability of handlers…. once I see who is in what team I shall used my powers of prediction again ! .
