Next Starters Competitions
I had a question about the next starters competitions we will be entering.
We will probably be entering one team for the 13th April competition at Acremead in Abingdon. This will be run by the MadMutts and (so far) they always finish on time and are well organised.
The down side is this venue takes 45 minutes to get to and there is not much to do while you are there… so perhaps better for those starters who are happy chilling with a book for a few hours !
We will definitely be entering one or two starters teams at Cantley Park in Wokingham on April 27th.
This will be a Dream Team competition so might over run, but luckily Wokingham is very local for most of the team, there is a pub near by, a field to walk around, the town centre is also fairy close… and you can even go and feed a carrot to my daughters horse !.
Let me know if you are interested in entering any of these (I have Tess down for Acremead).
Cheers,
Andy
Pet Fayre Update
Pet Fayre is an independent pet shop in Lower Early which has supported the Rooky Racers since we started with 10% of everything they sell.
In a few weeks they will be moving next to Kei's Peking Restaurant in the same Maiden Place shopping precinct.
This is to make room for a new Sainsburys Local store.
With Pets At Home now open down the road they could do with all the support they can get.
Don't forget you get 10% off everything in store or off the internet, and that anything not listed can be ordered in. (You now get a discount card in the shop so you don't need to ask each time you visit).
Janet is very friendly and is happy to get prices up front if you ask
http://www.petfayre-reading.co.uk/index.html
Are they expensive?…. no, not at all… a quick compare of prices below:
Burns Adult Complete Pork & Potato 15Kg

Woosehill Vets
It is now safe for team members near Woosehill to use their local vet again !!
I
would just like to let you know about our new Veterinary Practice now
open in Woosehill. The practice is now a branch of Nine Mile Vets in
Finchampstead, conveniently located next to Morrisons near Wokingham
Town Centre. We opened in September 2012 under new ownership following a
total refit and employing all new staff. You have probably heard in
the news about the Vet previously using these premises; that he has been
struck off from practising as a Veterinary Surgeon, and was imprisoned.
Following this unfortunate episode, it is understandable that many
animal lovers are now wary of coming to this Veterinary Surgery; however
I would like to try to allay any concerns that people might have by
telling you a bit about ourselves here at Emmview Veterinary Centre.
· As a branch of Nine Mile Vets, we have full access to the
excellently equipped Nine Mile Hospital, including the use of an MRI
scanner when required.
·
Newly refitted and equipped with: X-Ray, separate cat and dog wards,
separate cat and dog waiting areas, extra-large kennels for XXL dogs,
ultrasound scanner, in-house lab and a separate dental suite.
· Friendly, approachable and professional staff including a qualified Veterinary Nurse.
· 15 minute appointments to give us more time to make your pet feel comfortable in the Vets.
· Plentiful free parking in Morrisons car park.
· Puppy parties.
· We have evening talks planned on subjects such as dog behaviour and caring for geriatric pets.
· Open til 6:30pm on weekdays, and on Saturday mornings.
Emergencies seen at Nine Mile until 6pm Saturday and 1pm Sunday.
· Healthy Pet Club loyalty scheme provides all preventative
healthcare such as vaccines, flea/lungworm treatment, microchip, nail
clips and wormers with generous discounts on all of our other services
and products for a monthly direct debit.
I myself qualified in
2004 from Bristol University, I have worked in Veterinary Practices
throughout Southern England and Australia as well as a charity clinic in
Rarotonga. I love all animals and particularly enjoy medical cases. I
like to deliver a friendly and sympathetic service and our team works to
a very high standard of veterinary care.
We are more than
happy for people to come and have a look around the practice, by prior
arrangement; for obvious reasons and we love having people pop in to say
hi or to just get their dog weighed.
We’d be very grateful if
you could let your members know that we exist, or even better forward
this email to them! We know that most people are very happy with their
existing Vets but we just want to let people know that we are another
option in Wokingham.
Many thanks,
Rosie Skinner BVSc MRCVS
